Set in the future, three generations after a plague has all but wiped out humanity, a family struggles to celebrate a vaguely remembered holiday, the Christ-mass. Using bits of knowledge gleaned from the remaining fragments of 20th century culture, the celebrants drink punch and present gifts. The unexpected arrival of a stranger and the stories he tells change the superficial celebration into an exploration of sacrifice and forgiveness.
